I have prepared it many times in different ways, using different cooking techniques, in a pressure cooker, conventional or baked, but the best and definitive way is to do it in a slow cooker at a low temperature.
Slow cooking at a low temperature makes the meat very tender, it cooks in its own juice, you do not need to add liquid, just the meat and the marinade, the key is in the cooking time and the temperature.
Electric slow cookers allow you to prepare pulled pork at a low temperature.
In a pressure cooker it is cooked in a short time at high temperature and pressure, and you always have to add some liquid to generate steam, in a slow cooker, it is the opposite, the food is cooked at a low temperature for a long time and you do not need to add extra liquid because the juices from the meat and the marinade will suffice.
There is no doubt that you can put a little water in the bottom of the pan or broth, but it is not necessary.
To cook in a slow cooker you need a little more foresight, but not more dedication, since you only have to prepare the ingredients and turn the pot on.
If your pot is programmable, mark the cooking time that interests you, if it is not, set an alarm on your mobile or on any timer you have at home.
You can leave the house and leave the pot on without any problem, they are designed for that and they are safe.
The best thing, as I was saying, is that the meat is cooked in its own juices, maintaining all its flavor by integrating the marinade.
In a slow cooker, the times are long, but it is not work because it does not require supervision.
For the pulled pork I usually take 8 hours, if I want it to be ready for dinner, I put it in the pot around 12 noon, so at 20:00 p.m. it is done, as these pots have the "keep warm" function, no There is a problem if you eat dinner at 20:30 pm or 21:00 pm, the meat will be perfect.
The boneless pork shoulder is the ideal piece to prepare this recipe.
Regarding the type of meat used to make Pulled Pork, the classic recipe speaks of pork shoulder, the ideal is to buy the whole boneless pork shoulder, and cook it whole.
You can also use loin head, which is very easily found in all butchers, but keep in mind that this recipe is usually made with a palette.
A boneless pork shoulder weighs between 1,5 and 2 kg, with the amount of marinade that I propose there is enough to cover the entire surface of the meat well.
The ideal is to season the meat and smear it very well with the marinade, if you plan it in advance, leave the meat marinating overnight in the refrigerator, if for whatever reason, you decide unexpectedly and you do not have time, leave it in marinade at least 30 minutes before starting to cook.
I usually put the already marinated meat in the pot and turn it on for the first hour at high temperature, from there I leave it on low for the remaining 7 hours.
The marinade that I prepare is very simple, and has a particularity, it does not contain sugar, I always adapt the recipes to my needs and tastes.

- 800 g boneless pork shoulder
- 2 tbsp unsweetened ketchup
- 2 tbsp sugar-free tomato sauce
- 2 garlic cloves

- 1 cdita onion powder
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Instructions
- The first thing to prepare is the marinade, mix the ketchup, tomato, crushed garlic, mustard, olive oil and all the spices.
- Season the piece of meat on all sides.
- Smear the meat with the marinade that you have prepared.
- Let the marinated meat rest in the fridge for 7-8 hours overnight. If you can't wait that long, at least leave it for 30 minutes.
- Put the already marinated piece of meat in the pot, optionally you can add a little water, turn the pot on, the first hour in the "high temperature" position.
- After the first hour of cooking, put the pot on the "low temperature" position and cook for at least 7 hours. (It could be 10 hours perfectly, it will not burn).
- When the time is up, take the piece out of the pot and crumble it with the help of two forks.
- Add the cooking juice to the already shredded meat and serve it to your liking.

- If you start the pot at 12:00, you have the recipe ready at 20:00 p.m., for example, so calculate your times, plan and when you turn on the pot, forget about it.
